"From the moment we arrived, there was no front desk, no formality — just the family, the garden, and a stillness we didn't know we needed. Three nights turned into a week."

Our Invitation
There is no rush at Casa Efterpi. Mornings begin on the stone steps with coffee and the scent of the garden; evenings end on the veranda, watching the light leave the Aegean.
However long you stay, the house asks only one thing of you — that you slow down enough to meet it.
Welcome to Casa Efterpi
On the island of Samos, where the Aegean meets a nineteenth-century mansion, Casa Efterpi offers quiet elegance to travellers who have stopped chasing more — and started noticing everything.
Set above the harbour town, the house has watched ships come and go since the 1870s. Our concept is simple: a home run by the family who has always lived in it, open just enough to share it.
Casa Efterpi was never meant to become a hotel in the usual sense. It is our family's home, kept exactly as it was built, and shared — quietly — with those who know how to appreciate a house that has done nothing but stand still and grow more beautiful.

A neoclassical mansion built to outlast centuries.
The facade greets you first — full elevation, columns, pediment, and green shutters, glowing warm in the morning light.

Bougainvillea in the foreground, blue water beyond — breakfast on the stone steps, a book in the shade of an old olive tree.

The people who built this house are the same people who welcome you into it, generation after generation.

Each room is named for the feature of the house it overlooks — the garden, the gulf, the old olive grove. Furnishings are original where possible, restored where necessary, and never replaced for the sake of fashion.
Ground-floor quiet, opening directly onto the bougainvillea terrace.
Top-floor views across the rooftops to the Aegean beyond.
A smaller, sunlit room beneath the old roofline, facing the olive grove.

Our Story
Casa Efterpi has belonged to our family since the house was first built — and we have never thought of ourselves as anything other than its caretakers. Every cornice, shutter, and stone step has been maintained, not modernised, by the people who grew up beneath this roof.
We open our home to a small number of guests at a time, because that is the only way we know how to do this well. There is no front desk, no uniform, no script — only a family who happens to also welcome travellers, the way Samos has always welcomed them.

Guest Stories
We don't ask guests to leave reviews — but some write to us anyway. Here is how a few of them described their time at Casa Efterpi.
